12 Days of Giving - Day 12

Welcome to the final day of our 12 Days of Giving!  I certainly enjoyed creating and sharing these resources with you!

My final freebie is a fun Nonsense Word Fluency Game that my students adore!  Again, I make every attempt to make learning fun and engaging for my students.  One of the best ways to do this is through games.  We all know that kids learn naturally through play, so why not create more opportunities for play in the classroom.

Nonsense word fluency measures a student's ability to decode individual phonemes and then blend them together to read. This ability to decode and blend is an indicator of a student's progress in acquiring early alphabetic principle skills.

I havea variety of Nonsense Word Fluency and Sight Word games that all follow the same format.  They're played like "Uno" and "Go Fish".  I teach my students how to play these games during the first months of school.   After students are familiar with how to play the game, I put these out for parent volunteers to play with small groups of students. Eventually, I put these games out for my early finishers!  The students love playing the games in pairs or small groups!

Try this freebie!

If you are interested in more themed Nonsense Word Fluency Games, check these out or search my store by category, "Nonsense Word Fluency."

12 Days of Giving - Day 10

Welcome back for the 10th Day of Giveaways!  I've put together a Color by Code Gingerbread Freebie for today!  My students love coloring and I love incorporating an academic twist.  Hey, anything for engaging my students and getting in some extra practice with sight words.

The hidden bonus is extra fine motor development!  With so much technology in our homes and classrooms, I try to make sure my students have some type of fine motor activity every day!

If your students enjoy this, you may want to take a look at these resources!  I've created sets for every season to keep my students engaged all year long!

These Color by Code resources are also great for word work tubs, quick sub plans, early finishers, wake up morning work, and homework!
